Created in collaboration with headteachers, “Transition” is a special theatre workshop that presents some of the issues faced by children as they make the change from Primary to Secondary School.
By means of theatrical games and fun improvisation the children are led through a series of role-playing exercises where they examine the feelings that the changes may bring.
Using elements of ‘Forum Theatre’ and investigating various possible responses to a presented dilemma, the children alternate between performing and shaping the outcome of played-out scenes.
The workshop also looks at how the children’s older friends may have changed after a year in secondary school and, consequently, how they themselves can help their younger friends who will be joining them in the future.
…And all shot through with The House of Fun’s familiar sense of comedy!
The workshop facilitator is actor/director, David Richey (Hairy Fairy Nonsense, The Jazzman, and others), and the workshop runs for 2 hours.
